Where amateur pie makers, professional bakers/chefs & commercial pie companies from around the country & Canada have been competing since 1995. The APC has created a standard of quality in pie making on all levels. We have a well-established record in the pie-judging field for both amateur bakers and commercial/professional bakers alike. Our commercial members have shown that winning an APC award can substantially increase sales and market share in that category and the competition gets tougher each year.
Amateurs - On Friday, April 18, 2008, amateur contestants have the opportunity to bake on site at the APC Crisco National Pie Championships. GE ovens will be provided by Southeast Steel, the Official Oven Sponsor of the American Pie Council. Amateur entrants can enter into one or all fifteen flavor categories including Crisco® Classic Cherry and Classic Chocolate flavors, Splenda flavor, and new flavors, California Raisin and
Kraft Philadelphia Cream Cheese. All amateur pies entered will be judged on Saturday, April 19, 2008. Best of Show prize for the Amateur division includes $5000. Click here for an Amateur entry form. Click here for Official Amateur Rules.
Professionals - Professional entrants will have the ability to bake onsite in our kitchens on Saturday, April 19th. There is limited space available, so sign up early. Time in the kitchen is limited to three hours. Registration and judging will be Sunday, April 20, 2008. Pies entered in the Professional Division are entered in the following categories; apple, fruit & berry, Crisco® classic chocolate, citrus, Crisco® classic cherry, open cream, open and nut flavor categories. Pies must be registered between 8 and 9 AM on Sunday. Awards will be presented on Sunday, April 20th at the Great American Pie Festival at 2:00PM. Commercial Bakers - Friday, April 18th starts the Commercial Division of the NPC. Last year we expanded our NSA flavors to include apple, blueberry, fruit & berry, open cream, citrus, open, nut and chocolate. A new Raisin flavor category is being introduced this year sponsored by the
California Raisin Marketing Board. We are continuing the Indepedent Bakers Category, for bakers who have under one million dollars in pie sales annually. Commercial entrants will register their pies starting at 6:00AM. These pies will be judged on Friday and awards will be presented on at the Pie Reception on Friday, April 18th at 8:00PM. Crisco® Junior Chefs - Best of Show winner in the Crisco® Junior Chef division will win a $1000 gift certificate to the Chef Depot, a source for all Professional Chef Tools. High school students (age 14-17 on April 19, 2008) who have an interest in becoming chefs will have the opportunity to bake on site on Saturday, April 19, 2008. Entries in this division will be in the apple, fruit/berry, cream or open category. These pies will be judged on Sunday, April 20th and awards will be presented at the Great American Pie Festival on Sunday, April 20th at 2:00PM. For a Junior Chef's Entry Form, Click here.
